The sixth release in the Ideal Series honors the artwork of renowned equine artist Orren Mixer (1920–2008). Each hand-painted piece in this series is inspired by Mixer’s famous “ideal” breed paintings.
A buckskin is a bay horse with a cream gene that lightens the coat to a rich caramel color, with black or dark brown points. The International Buckskin Horse Association, the world’s largest registry for this color, commissioned Mixer’s painting The Buckskin in 1996. This iconic piece is now on display at the AQHA Heritage Center and Museum in Amarillo, TX.
