“Big Lex,” inspired by the legendary Thoroughbred Lexington, is the official mascot of Lexington, Kentucky. His distinctive blue color honors the state's famous bluegrass. Known as the “Horse Capital of the World,” Lexington is home to prominent equine landmarks, including Keeneland Race Course and the Kentucky Horse Park.
Foaled in 1850, Lexington was the top racehorse of the 19th century and an influential sire. His iconic skeleton is displayed at the Kentucky Horse Park’s International Museum of the Horse, and his extraordinary life has been the subject of two recently published books.
