Ebony Shines has proven that elite broodmares deserve just as much recognition as top sires. This 1999 Quarter Horse mare, sired by the legendary Shining Spark and out of an own daughter of Topsail Whiz, has become one of the most influential producers in Western performance history.
Bred by Bob Loomis and now owned by Roseann Sternberg, Ebony Shines had a brief show career before making her mark as a broodmare. Inducted into the NRHA Hall of Fame in 2016, she became the association’s first-ever “One Million Dollar Dam” in 2018. Her offspring have earned over $1.2 million and claimed prestigious titles like NRHA Open World Champion and NRHA Open Futurity Co-Champion.
By her side is her 2021 palomino filly, Charlize, who is poised to carry on her dam’s winning legacy.
