Meet Queen of Hearts, affectionately known as Josie! While she may appear to be an ordinary bay warmblood on her right side, her left side tells a completely different story with its striking white brindle markings, resembling bold stripes. These unique features, which only appear on one side of her body, may be due to Josie being a chimera, a rare occurrence when two non-identical embryos fuse in utero.
Born in 2002, Josie is a KWPN mare who has been owned by Gabriella Savettiere since 2009. Together, they enjoyed a standout career in the Children’s Hunters, including back-to-back wins as 1st Over Fences & Reserve Champion at the Zone 2 Hunter Finals in 2012 and 2013. Josie later found success in the Adult division, where she was named the 2020 M&S 2’6” Adult Medal Year-End Champion! While her show ring career may be winding down, the bond between Josie and Gabriella is stronger than ever.
As part of BreyerFest: Horse of a Different Color, Josie has been immortalized in Traditional (1:9) scale as a special Limited Edition portrait model, a tribute to her remarkable story and one-of-a-kind appearance.
